The Little Mermaid on Broadway Soundtrack Out NOW!

So I totally didn't realize this until now, but The Little Mermaid Broadway Soundtrack came out YESTERDAY!

I personally have yet to see the Broadway show, but I have wanted to ever since I found out about it. Granted, I was pretty upset when I found out they're ending Beauty and the Beast. I was lucky enough to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway when Christy Carlson Romano was Belle, and I enjoyed it immensely. I also remember being really upset that I couldn't meet her, because I attended a matinee showing and she only came out to sign autographs at night.

Oh well. I had enjoyed the show immensely, because how could you not love a Disney show on Broadway? It was fantastic. I even wanted to go a second time, when Anneliese van der Pol was Belle this past summer, but that never happened, unfortunately.

So they closed the show this past July, and in place of it they announced a Broadway version of the Little Mermaid. Admittedly, I wondered how they were going to pull this musical off - and I'm sure a lot of people did too. In fact, before the announcement, I remember joking around with people that it would be hilarious if they made a Little Mermaid musical - thinking it was never going to happen. Boy, Disney surprises us all the time, doesn't it?

While I haven't seen the show yet, I did read about it and found out how exactly they pulled off the "Under the Sea" effects. They supposedly use a Heelys type of shoe, except really decorated to blend in with the costumes... and they just skate around on stage. That's pretty cool, I guess. It's always nice to bring about a new, unique element on the stage. It would be a really interesting show to go to, and next time I go to New York, I plan on attending.

Has anybody seen it on Broadway? If so, what did you think? Thumbs up or down?
